Charlotte Windebank, a graduate of the Executive MBA at Newcastle University Business School, is Managing Director and co-founder of FIRST. FIRST empowers enterprise skills and entrepreneurship for underrepresented communities by providing entry level qualifications, workshops and awards. Charlotte recently created a social value tool that allows universities, Government, and other organisations to communicate the value of their work. LSBU delivering on Big Growth targets
Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and led by London South Bank University (LSBU), the Business Innovation and Growth Programme supports South London enterprises and charities. Activities are themed around five growth areas: digital health & wellbeing, improving London communities, circular economy, arts & creative industries, and low carbon. LSBU has already successfully met 50% of its project outputs, providing non-financial support to 83 enterprises. The programme also puts strong emphasis on EDI with achievements such as: 50% of beneficiaries identify as female, 42% of beneficiaries are of an ethnic minority background, 33% of beneficiaries disclose living with a disability. Leeds Beckett experts helping to boost growth of Leeds-based national programme management consultancy
Leadership and marketing experts at Leeds Beckett University have formed a new partnership with Mercury3 Consult, a programme management consultancy primarily specialising in the rail sector, to support the company’s growth into new services and markets. The project is a two-year Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), part-funded by the Government through Innovate UK. Academics based in Leeds Business School will lead the project to embed in-house, sustainable, skills and expertise within Mercury3 – allowing them to develop new strategic opportunities. ARU launches MBA (Entrepreneurship) in the UAE
Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) has launched its cutting-edge MBA (Entrepreneurship) in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Higher Education. Kicking off in May 2024, this programme targets experienced managers, equipping them with entrepreneurial skills to drive transformative change across key sectors in the UAE. The course blends online and in-person sessions, highlighting the crucial role of entrepreneurial leadership in tackling global challenges. Graduates earn professional accreditation from the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs (IoEE), ensuring practical, impactful learning. Expecting 200 students annually, this initiative underscores the UAE’s dedication to driving innovation and entrepreneurship through top-tier education.

Leeds Beckett University experts helping to develop digital solution to support children who stammer
Speech and Language Therapy and Psychology researchers at Leeds Beckett University are joining forces with stammering experts, SuperPenguin, and three NHS organisations to develop an innovative app and web platform to support children who stammer. The three-year project has received £1.5m funding from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). The team will enhance and refine SuperPenguin – an innovative digital therapeutic solution, consisting of an app and web dashboard – to introduce new interactive tools for parents, carers and Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs). SuperPenguin aims to build confidence in children who stammer, lower anxiety and worry for children and parents, and reduce NHS waiting times for SLT services. Read more.
