9:30 am - 3:30 pm 10/12/2024
Venue: In-person at Manchester Metropolitan University, Innospace, Turing House, 5 Archway
Manchester, M15 5RL
Partners: Manchester Metropolitan University; University of Liverpool, Munster Technological University and the University of Manchester.
This event will combine an EEUK Exchange session and the launch of a Special Interest Group, both focused on the topic of: Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Education for a Sustainable Society.
In the morning, delegates will be welcomed and the rationale for the event, and for the new SIG, will be introduced.
There will be a keynote presentation from Dr Melanie Rieback, a tech entrepreneur, and an educator and scholar developing ‘Post-Growth Entrepreneurship’. Melanie re-frames business as ‘one of the most effective forms of activism’. She is championing business models that embrace flat growth and re-envisions business as ‘a vehicle for pure positive impact’.
Following the introduction and keynote, there will be exchange activity facilitated by partner universities. This part of the session will address sustainable shifts in and outside the curriculum, in start-up support and business development and in research. Delegates will have a chance to learn, share and network.
After lunch, the Special Interest Group, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Education for a Sustainable Society, will be launched. The focus of this session will be interactive. Delegates will take part in a participatory design process to contribute to the three year vision of the SIG.
These events are an opportunity for interested educators, researchers and practitioners to connect, share practice and develop thinking about how Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Education can, and is, shifting to be in service of a more sustainable society.
